APPOINTED NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

Oversight of the agency and administrative tasks are the responsibility of the Chief Medical Examiner. The position is considered to be part of the Mayor’s cabinet and attends cabinet meetings in the City and County of Honolulu.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine, completion of approved pathology residency training at a recognized institution.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Current license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii, prior to appointment.
2. Certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic or Forensic Pathology. Ideal candidate preferred: certification in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology.
