NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
APPLICATION OF HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC. FOR APPROVAL OF RATE INCREASES AND REVISED RATE SCHEDULES AND RULES

The STATE OF HAWAII, PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-12 and 269-16, HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC. (“HECO”), filed on July 30, 2010, for Commission approval of rate increases and revised rate schedules and rules (“Application”). The public hearing will be held as follows:

HECO is the franchised provider of electric utility services for the City and County of Honolulu. HECO seeks Commission approval of a general rate increase of $113,523,000 or 6.6% over revenues at current effective rates. Revenues at current effective rates include revenues from the rate increases that the commission approved in (1) the Final Decision and Order issued September 14, 2010 in Docket No. 2006-0386, and (2) the Interim Decision and Order issued July 2, 2009, the Order Approving HECO’s Revised Schedules, issued August 3, 2009, and the Second Interim Decision and Order issued February 19, 2010 in Docket No. 2008-0083.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views. Statements may also be mailed to the Public Utilities Commission at 465 South King Street, Room 103, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, or submitted via electronic mail at Hawaii.PUC@hawaii.gov. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2010-0080. Any motions to intervene or participate in this proceeding must comply with Subchapter 4, Rules of Practice and Procedure Before the Public Utilities Commission, Hawaii Administrative Rules, Title 6, Chapter 61, and must be filed with the Commission at its Honolulu Office by November 15, 2010.
