EXEMPT POSITIONS:
Clinic Operations Manager (Honolulu)
Plans, directs, coordinates, and provides leadership and oversight for statewide clinic operations to respond to
bioterrorism and infectious diseases outbreaks.
Emergency medicine and public health experience preferred.
Hawaii RN license required.
Information Technology Specialist (Honolulu)
Designs, implements and maintains critical electronic data processing systems; ensures proper planning,
scheduling execution and control of systems; evaluates program needs and reviews application systems to
determine if requirements and objectives are met.
One and one-half years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a data processing or
information technology administrator.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in information technology,
computer sciences or a related field of study.
Senior Planner (Honolulu)
Coordinates statewide public health preparedness planning, to include, but not limited to the Strategic National
Stockpile, Pandemic Influenza, and Cities Readiness Initiative.
Completes plans and reports to meet the goals and objectives of the CDC Preparedness Cooperative Agreements and Grants.
Supervises and provides technical support to public health planners statewide.
Knowledge and experience in Public Health and emergency response planning, as well as National Incident
Management System (NIMS) and the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in a biological
science or public health is strongly recommended.
2-Epidemiology Field Investigators (1-Honolulu; 1-Wailuku, Maui)
Receives or obtains reports of infectious disease from laboratories, physicians, other agencies, and the public.
Perform site visits to locations pertinent to an investigation such as healthcare and food preparation facilities,
patient residences and workplaces.
Collect, package and transport clinical and environmental specimens.
Provide and administer standard treatment and prophylaxis under medical guidance.
Overtime work, including evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
Travel to the neighbor islands to assist in field investigations is occasionally required.
Knowledge of public health disease surveillance goals and processes.
Experience in managing and analyzing data by computer.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in a biological
science or public health is strongly recommended.
4-H1N1 Project Assistants (1-Honolulu; 1-Hilo, Hawaii; 1-Wailuku, Maui; 1-Lihue, Kauai)
Assists with all aspects of project planning, implementation and evaluation.
Records and collects project data and reporting to comply with project requirements.
Coordinates project meetings and travel.
Tracks project progress and expenses for respective area.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree is strongly recommended.
Lab Information Technologist (Pearl City)
Develop, test, implement, and document standards for maintaining mainframe, mid-range, micro and client server
application programs in a user organization.
Install software; define required parameters for database definition; analyze data volume and space requirements; perform
database and parameter tuning; execute database backups and recoveries; monitor database requirements; verify integrity
of data in databases; and coordinate the transformation of logical structures to properly performing physical structures.
Provide technical assistance/advice to systems analysts, application programmers, database analysts, network
analysts, and operations personnel.
Develop and implement systems programming standards and procedures.
Two and one-half years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Laboratory Information
Management System ( e.g. STARLIMS) which involved systems analysis, design, programming, security and
access management, database design and management, consulting, and/or installing and maintaining computer
software applications, hardware, telecommunications, web or network infrastructure equipment.
Skills in SQL database, .NET and Java highly desirable.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Microbiologist (Pearl City)
Conducts a variety of highly specialized laboratory assays to isolate, detect, and confirm bacteria, toxins and viral
agents involved in bioterrorism, and outbreaks related to new or emerging bacteria, viral or rickettsial agents.
Performs different microbial and molecular assays on different matrices (clinical isolates, environmental and
food samples) using different platforms.
Applicants must have a valid State of Hawaii Clinical Laboratory Specialist or Medical Technologist License or
equivalent as required under the provisions of the Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Chapter 11-110.1.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or
microbiology or a related field of study.
Public Health Educator (Honolulu)
Plans and coordinates implementation of community outreach and health education campaigns for influenza
vaccination, pandemic flu preparedness and other public health emergencies.
Experience working in public health emergency preparedness, news media, public health education and outreach,
Web 2.0 and advanced website or computer graphics experience desirable.
Strong writing and presentation skills required.
Knowledge of print and video production is helpful.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
