NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations – Office of Community Services is eligible for federal funds from the U.S. Department of Energy for LBR 903-09, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) Services for Low-Income Persons. The estimated funding available for Program Year 2009 is $479,685, which includes $32,863 of carryover funds. Additional funds may become available from the proposed economic stimulus package. Measures to conserve energy will be made by providing Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Kits, Refrigerators, and Solar Water Heater Systems to eligible low-income families.

A public hearing on the WAP State Plan is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Office of Community Services, at the Ke’elikolani Building, Room 420, 830 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. Those wishing to testify should provide three (3) copies of their written testimony at the hearing. Written testimony may also be delivered or mailed to the Office of Community Services, but must be received prior to the hearing date. Testimonies received will be considered prior to submittal of the final WAP State Plan to the U.S. Department of Energy. The proposed WAP State Plan is currently available for review from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the following locations:
