SMOKE TESTING PUBLIC NOTICE

The Department of Environmental Services, Division Of Collection System Maintenance will be conducting “Smoke
Testing” of the wastewater collection system in your area to help locate leaks from broken pipes, illegal connections, open
cleanouts, etc. The work in your area is scheduled in accordance with the presented map. The project involves blowing
smoke into the sewer pipes and recording where the smoke appears. The smoke that you see coming from the vent stacks on
houses or coming out of the ground is NON-TOXIC, HARMLESS, HAS MINIMAL ODOR, IS NOT A FIRE HAZARD,
AND POSES NO HEALTH HAZARD TO HUMANS OR PETS.
