Corrections Supervisor I
$4,276.00 (SR-24) per month
The CS I is responsible for directing and supervising a Section of the Hawaii
Youth Correctional Facility. Responsibilities include overseeing and ensuring
staff/provision/coordination of quality casework, custodial care / super
vision, and related services for redirection and release/post release of
youths as assigned; and liaison for families, community resources, courts
and other agencies.
Minimum Qualifications are: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited
university or college with either a major, or a sufficient number of credit
hours in appropriate subjects which would satisfy academic requirements
for a major in sociology, psychology, criminology, penology or other related
behavior science. Excess General or Specialized Experience or other
progressively responsible administrative or professional work may be
substituted for Education on a year-for-year basis. The experience must
have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of
comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must also possess two (2) years of professional General Experience which
required the application of knowledge of the behavioral and social sciences
as they relate to redirecting or rehabilitating persons with behavioral social
problems, and one (1) year of professional Specialized Experience in a
criminal justice or related social service program having as a major function
providing services to law offenders in several areas of life activities. Such
experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the philosophy,
principles, concepts and practices relating to criminal justice or allied
offender rehabilitation programs, and must have been gained in one or a
combination of Social Service Experience or Staff Specialist Experience.
