The Hawaii Department of Health, Tobacco Settlement Project (DOH), through a joint agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Hawaii Department of Human Services implements the Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) Program to promote nutrition education and physical activity amongst populations eligible for the Food Stamp Program. DOH seeks applicants for two (2) Non-Civil Service (Exempt) Positions to begin work preferably on January 15, 2009. Candidates must demonstrate successful experience in community program management; skills in program planning, development, communication, managing and monitoring state contracts. Masters degree in public health, public administration, education administration or related field preferred. (Beginning October 1, 2008, the Food Stamp Program will be known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); FSNE will be known as SNAP-Ed.

FSNE Community Outreach Program Coordinator

The position develops and provides opportunities for the community and community-based programs and personnel to participate in FSNE. The position contracts and manages programs, monitors contract compliance as well as promotes collaboration and partnerships, facilitates statewide programming, and ensures guidelines are followed while coordinating and overseeing program implementation and evaluation. Experience working in public health, the community, and low-income groups is desired.

FSNE Health Education Coordinator

The position develops, manages, and coordinates social marketing opportunities and campaigns to provide social marketing support to FSNE program projects. The position also develops and manages educational materials and resources to reach multiple target populations and ensures federal guidelines are followed while coordinating and overseeing program implementation and evaluation. Experience in public health education, developing social marketing campaigns, media messages, working with news and media, graphics design, website development, contracting and contract monitoring is desired.
