NOTICE TO BIDDERS

BID FORMS for IFB No. 09-0168, with plans, HALE ALOHA MODERNIZATION OF TOWERS, PHASE 1, INTERIOR RENOVATION, will be available from and received in the OFFICE OF PROCUREMENT AND REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (OPRPM), UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII, 1400 LOWER CAMPUS ROAD, ROOM 15, HONOLULU, HAWAII 96822.

Written notice of intention to bid is due in OPRPM by 4:30 p.m., November 28, 2008. Intention to bid via FAX (808) 956-2093 is acceptable.

Due to conditions at the site that may not be clearly identified in technical specifications and plans, it is highly recommended that all bidders attend the pre-bid conference/job site walk-through at 9:00 a.m., November 19, 2008, at Hale Aloha Cafeteria, 2573 Dole Street. Bidders must purchase a Gate Ticket ($3.00) and park in the Quarry, Zone 20. Bidders are to display the visitor parking ticket on their dashboard in plain view of parking guards.

Requests for Substitution/Clarification must be submitted to the Technical Representative, Loren Lau, Office of Capital Improvements, 1960 East-West Road, Biomedical Sciences B-102, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96822, no later than 4:00 p.m., November 26, 2008.

Bids must be submitted no later than 2:30 p.m., December 10, 2008. Bids received after the stated due time and date(s) will not be considered.

The work shall in general consist of demolition of existing exterior concrete walls, doors, and glazing. Removal of existing interior partition walls, ceiling, flooring, plumbing, and electrical, including HAZMAT abatement at Hale Ilima and Hale Mokihana. New work will include reconfiguration of existing spaces, including adding floor area on the first and second floors. Install in place cabinetry/counter tops, mailboxes, tack/bulletin boards, doors, door hardware, windows, louver/grille, and restroom accessories. Installation of finishes, including flooring, wainscot, and ceiling/acoustical ceiling tiles. Replacement of existing guard and hand railing complete. New exterior and touch up painting and deck, waterproofing, and interior painting. Removal and replacement of plumbing, fire sprinkler/alarm, electrical service as indicated. Removal of existing emergency generators and installation, trenching, and wiring for new generator, including concrete pad as indicated, and miscellaneous related work, as called for on the Plans and Technical Specifications.

To be eligible to bid, bidders must possess a valid State of Hawaii contractor’s license B. BIDS FROM CONTRACTORS NOT LICENSED IN THE STATE OF HAWAII WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
