The CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU, through its Department of Community Services, requests proposals from qualified nonprofit organizations for the EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM (ESG), authorized under Title IV of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Approximately $70,186 in ESG and Community Development Block Grant matching funds is anticipated to be made available to qualified agencies for homeless prevention activities only. The award may be for two years with the second year contingent upon appropriation of funds and satisfactory performance of the nonprofit agency.

Interested agencies may obtain a Request for Proposals (RFP) beginning Monday, October 20, 2008 in electronic PDF format via e-mail by sending a request to Stephanie On at son@honolulu.gov. A printed copy is available upon request from the Department of Community Services, 715 South King Street, Suite 311, Honolulu, Hawaii by calling 768-7752. Proposals shall be submitted to the Department of Community Services at the above address by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008.

An optional public information meeting will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Department of Community Services Conference Room, 715 South King Street, Suite 311, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813.
