The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Department of Interior (DOI) are requesting assistance from the Department of Defense (DOD) Innovative Readiness Training program for projects in the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument. These projects include derelict vessel removal, marine debris collection, seabed mapping, and potential removal of known hazardous materials and explosive threats. The intent is to align unfunded NOAA and DOI agency needs with projects that can serve as training exercises for the military; thereby leveraging training to benefit the Monument as well as the units.
