Minimum Requirements: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of supervisory, driver training instructional, regulatory, or related experience including or supplemented by one year of frequent public contact which involved explaining rules and regulations to others in determining eligibility or non-eligibility for licenses, benefits, or similar matters. License Requirement: a current traffic abstract confirming no DUI convictions for three (3) years preceding and no moving violations for one year preceding, and possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (Class A) with no vehicle restriction and with a “P” endorsement issued in the United States and six months (1,040 hours) of actual CDL (Class A) driving time experience subject to verification (submit a copy of your traffic abstract and driver’s license).

Prior to appointment, possession of a valid State of Hawai`i CDL (Class A) with no vehicle restriction and with a “P” endorsement, a current State of Hawaii Medical Examiner’s Certificate, and must be certified by the County’s driver training examiner or designee. Prior to completion of probation, possession of an “X” and “S” endorsement.
