RESEARCHERS and RESEARCH ATTORNEYS
(Year round full-time employment available immediately)

Nonpartisan legislative service agency seeking professional staff. Working conditions vary during the year. Fast-paced legislative session (January to April) requires flexible working hours under strict deadlines and interaction with elected officials, other legislative staff, and the public.

Team-oriented individuals with strong analytical, research, legal, reading comprehension, and writing skills to draft legislation, committee reports, and legal and research memoranda during legislative session, and longer term studies during interims. Law degree for research attorney position, graduate degree for researcher position, and working knowledge of internet applications and Microsoft programs. Familiarity with Hawaii Revised Statutes and legislative process desirable, but not required.

CONTRACTORS FOR LEGISLATIVE STUDIES

Seeking candidates for possible hiring as contractors to prepare studies on public policy issues for submission to the Hawaii State Legislature. Strong analytical, research, and writing skills necessary. Must be self-starter who can work independently, and meet periodic deadlines for drafts. Studies must be completed before end of 2008. Availability of contracts cannot be guaranteed, as need may vary according to demands of projects.
