COUNTY OF HAWAI’I SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR STEWARDSHIP GRANTS TO MAINTAIN & PRESERVE LANDS ACQUIRED WITH MONIES FROM THE PUBLIC ACCESS, OPEN SPACE AND NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION FUND (FUND)

The County of Hawai’i, Department of Parks and Recreation (P&R) is seeking applicants for stewardship grants to provide grants-in-aid for public safety maintenance and preservation of lands acquired by the FUND as stipulated in the Hawai’i County Charter, Article 10, Section 10-16 (h). Only 501(c)3 non-profits or an organization that operates under the umbrella of a 501(c)3 non-profit shall be considered for a stewardship grant. Grant awards are for one calendar year beginning January 1st and ending on December 31st. In addition to the grant application, the applicant must also submit a detailed business plan for the project along with a signed agreement to file a written report within one year after receipt of funds on what has been accomplished and how the money was spent. Application and property information are available on-line at the following: http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/, selecting “Boards & Commissions” from the bottom left side and then “Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission” or at the P&R office located in the Aupuni Center, 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 6, Hilo, Hawai’i 96720. Applicants must comply with all provisions of Hawai’i County Charter Article 10, Section 10-16 in addition to all applicable County, State and Federal laws. Groups seeking a multi-year project may re-apply each August 1st. Completed applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2017 or postmarked by that date if sending by mail.
