COUNTY OF KAUAI PLANNING DEPARTMENT, LIHUE, KAUAI

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Planning Commission of the County of Kauai, State of Hawaii, has scheduled a hearing at the Lihue Civic Center, Moikeha Building, Meeting Room 2-A-B, 4444 Rice Street, Lihue, Kauai on Tuesday, October 28 at 9:00 A.M., or soon thereafter, to consider under the provisions of Chapter 8 of the Kauai County Code 1987, as amended, and Section 14.11 of the Kauai County Charter, the following:
1. Class IV Zoning Permit Z-IV-2015-4 and Use Permit U-2015-4 to construct a farmworker housing unit featuring 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms on a parcel situated along the Makai side of Koolau Road in Moloaa, approx.. ½ mile east of its intersection with Kuhio Highway, further identified as 6020 Koolau Road or Tax Map Key 4-9-009: 012, CPR Unit 83, and containing a land area of 6.25 acres.
2. ZA-2015-2: A proposed ordinance to adopt the Lihue Community Plan Update and amend Chapter 10, Article 5 of the Kauai County Code which set forth policies and recommendations for each of the three major communities in the Lihue (Lihue, Puhi, and Hanamaulu), as well as to identify potential special planning areas for the Lihue District.
The Lihue Community Plan Update may be viewed during office hours at the Planning Department at 4444 Rice Street, Suite 473, Lihue, Hawaii 96766. All persons are afforded the opportunity to submit data, views, or arguments, and these may be filed in writing with the Department prior to the hearing or presented orally at the hearing.
All persons may present testimony for or against any application as public witnesses. Such testimony should be made in writing and presented to the Department prior to the hearing. Late written testimony may be submitted up to seven days after the close of the hearing in cases where the Commission does not take action on the same day the hearing was held. Any party may be represented by counsel if he or she so desires. Also, individuals may appear on their own behalf, a member of a partnership may represent the partnership, and an officer or authorized employee of a corporation or trust or association may represent the corporation, trust or association. Petitions for intervenor status must be submitted to the Commission and the applicant at least seven days prior to the date of the hearing advertised herein and shall be in conformance with Chapter 4 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Planning Commission. Chapter 4 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Planning Commission relating to intervention does not apply to General Plan, Zoning or State Land Use District Boundary Amendments and Rule Making Procedure before the Commission. Proposed plans and the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Planning Commission are available for inspection during normal business hours at the address above. Copies of the proposal may be mailed to any person willing to pay the required fees for copying and postage. Mailing requests may be made to the Department in writing at the address above. Special accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request five days prior to the meeting date by contacting the Department at the information above.
