Notice Regarding Chapter 844D, Part III, Hawaii Revised Statutes
(Offenders Subject to Collection of Specimens or Samples, or Print Impressions)

The Attorney General hereby provides notice that forensic identification testing pursuant to section 844D-31, Hawaii Revised Statutes, of all persons not already mandated to be tested by subsection 844D-31(b), Hawaii Revised Statutes, who have been convicted of, or pleaded guilty or no contest to, or been found not guilty by reason of insanity of a class A felony, a class B felony, or a class C felony, shall begin on August 1, 2008.

Section 844D-31(a), Hawaii Revised Statutes, states:

“Any person, except for any juvenile, who is convicted of, or pleads guilty or no contest to, any felony offense, even if the plea is deferred, or is found not guilty by reason of insanity of any felony offense, shall provide buccal swab samples and print impressions of each hand, and, if required by the collecting agency’s rules or internal regulations, blood specimens, required for law enforcement identification analysis.”

This notice is in satisfaction of section 844D-31(b), Hawaii Revised Statutes.
